Beulah Courts is a converted 3 storey house in a residential suburb in Lagos' Lekki suburb on Victoria Island. It is owned by David Nwaezeapu and operates as a small boutique hotel. It has a tiny cozy cafe. Wifi works ! The rooms are of varying size and mine was quite big. Apparently a standard feature of many businesses, it has a large generator which ran from evening until the next day. Apparently outages for long periods are common in Nigeria as it struggles with a huge shortfall of megawatts. Relief although promised by the Government by Dec 2009 seems unlikely to be achieved. The target is 6,000 megawatts, up from current 3,000 megawatts (as in Feb 2009).
The dinner was quite pleasant with huge tender prawns and rice. The local Star beer is a bitter and went down well.
Breakfast was hot fresh rolls and eggs, omelete, sausages and my favourite, bacon!
David goes to Malaysia regularly and brings many consumer goods back. From the large business opportunities I can see and the entrepreneur David is, he would be looking for business partnerships and suppliers. Some of the items we take for granted are very saleable in Nigeria ! Like flush toilet systems for example. Ask me for further information.
Look at the pic for the 2 diligent police personnel standing guard outside the hotel!
We left at 9.00 am for Akure. Distance approx 300 km and will take 4-5 hrs. Why so long? We will see in the next posting.
The local fare sounds scrumptious. Pls post some images next time :>
