I did not know we would be staying overnight in Lagos before the onward 3.5 hrs journey to Akure. We travelled more than 2 hrs to the Beulah Courts near the coast, on the delta itself. The city of 13 million we travelled through reminded me of Johor Bahru, a mix of modern roads and dusty vegetation, scattered housing. The populated areas had some similarity in organisation to Phnom Penh. Note the shops in the picture. I also included a pic on the bridge across to the Lekki suburb on Victoria Island where Beulah Courts is. This would be our stop for tonight. The other blurred pic showed a shanty town much like some of the squatter colonies in Sabah on stilts. There is an evident layer of smoke hanging over the houses, presumably from cooking for dinner.
There are of course the usual hawkers but what is interesting is that some of them are hawking a huge stack of newspapers and not only that, there are more than 30 Nigerian English newspapers! Puts Malaysia to shame ! I went through some of them and they show a healthy collection of local news and opinions, many of them lambasting the Government and Politicians for their ineptness, corruption, stupidity and actions. We sure could import some of that.
Chin, what a coincident to spot your blog in Nigeria. So how many shots you need again this time you come back to SWK?
